Vinyl fencing is for the homeowner who likes the look of a solid privacy fence but would rather skip the staining that wood asks for every few years. Lakeland Fence Co. handles vinyl fence installation for homes in Lakeland and the surrounding Polk County towns, from full privacy runs around a backyard to short picket sections beside the front walk.
Vinyl is a common sight around pools, along side yards in newer subdivisions, and on streets where the HOA prefers a uniform white or tan fence. It comes as ready-made panels that fit into hollow posts, so the finished fence looks clean and even from end to end.
The first step is a visit. We measure, go over styles and colors, and give you a free quote. Torn between materials? Wood and aluminum can be priced on the same trip.

White is the classic, but it shows dirt and mildew first. Tan, gray and wood-grain textures hide it better. Check your HOA’s list of approved colors before you choose.
Vinyl or wood. Both give full privacy. Wood takes stain and paint and can be fixed a board at a time. Vinyl skips the staining, and a damaged section is usually replaced by the panel.
Vinyl or aluminum. Aluminum is open and vinyl is solid. Vinyl hides the yard next door; aluminum shows off a lake, a pond or a garden.
Vinyl or chain link. Chain link is the plain, practical choice for a dog run or a back property line. Vinyl gets chosen when the fence is part of how the house looks from the street.

Vinyl fence installation leaves less room for error than wood does. Panels come in set widths, so posts have to land at the right spacing, and the line is measured carefully before the first hole is dug. Uneven ground is handled by stepping panels down a slope or trimming them to fit.
Posts are generally set in concrete, and gate posts are often stiffened with a metal insert, which helps in loose, sandy soil. Rails and panels then slide into the posts, caps go on top, and gates are hung and adjusted.
Have buried lines marked before digging, and point out sprinkler pipe and any wire running to a pool pump or light. If an old fence is coming out, mention whether its posts are set in concrete.
Humid summers and shade trees mean a vinyl fence will grow mildew and green film, mostly on its shady side. A soft brush, a garden hose and mild soap take care of it, and a pressure washer on a gentle setting works too if it is used with care.
Trim shrubs and vines back from the panels so air can move and the fence dries out after a storm. Vines that climb into the rails are hard to pull out later.
Vinyl can crack from a hard knock, such as a mower, a ball or a falling limb. A damaged panel can usually be swapped without disturbing the rest of the run; the fence repair page has more on that.
Vinyl is at its best where you want a clean, solid screen: around a pool deck, along a side yard that faces the neighbor’s windows, or across the front of a backyard close to a busy road. In subdivisions where every fence is white, it also keeps the street looking uniform.
It suits the back line of a lake lot less well, because a solid wall hides the water. Before a vinyl fence installation on a waterfront lot, think about where along the line you want privacy and where you would rather keep the view open.
Each vinyl fence installation is priced after the yard has been measured, and the quote is free. These are the main factors:
Call 863-216-6430 and we’ll come out and measure.
It often is. Pool barriers follow their own requirements, so find out from the building department what yours needs before you choose a style, and mention the pool at the visit so the gate hardware can be planned around it.
It is not made to be painted, so pick a color you will be happy living with. If you think you may want a different look in a few years, wood gives you more freedom.
For most dogs, yes. Solid panels block the view of passing dogs and people, which settles some barkers. A determined chewer or digger may do better behind chain link, so tell us about your dog when we come out.
